What Does Breast Lift Surgery Involve?
Your breast lift will be performed as an outpatient surgery under general anesthesia. Your plastic surgeon in Miami typically uses an anchor lift incision, otherwise known as an inverted-T, and is the gold standard of breast lift incisions.
First, an incision is made around the areola, and then a vertical incision extends from the areola to the bottom of the breast. Finally, a horizontal incision is made along the breast crease. In some cases, fewer, smaller incisions can be used where only minor correction is needed.

What Can I Expect During My Breast Lift Recovery?
After your breast lift surgery, you will be placed into a compression bra which must be worn for two to three weeks. You can expect to experience bruising, swelling, and loss of sensitivity for the first two weeks of recovery. Discomfort can be alleviated with prescribed or over-the-counter pain medication.
Most breast lift patients can resume normal activities and sedentary jobs about a week after this surgery. Avoid lifting, reaching, and all strenuous activities, including rigorous exercise, for up to six weeks after surgery or until our surgeon clears you.
What Results Can I Expect After My Breast Lift?
You will wear your compression bra for the first few weeks to help with swelling and support your recontoured breasts. Once the bruising and swelling subside, you’ll get a good idea of your early results, but your final results will take two to three months. After the implants settle, you can expect larger, well-shaped, and perkier breasts that last upwards of 10 years.
Your scars may be visible at first, but be patient. Breast surgery scars are known to fade over time and blend in nicely with your surrounding skin.

The results of a breast lift are long-lasting but not permanent and will not halt the aging process. Future pregnancies and gravity will eventually affect the appearance of your breast lift. That being said, your breasts will always remain better than if you didn’t have the surgery.

Candidates for breast lift surgery should be in good physical health, have experienced some level of breast sagging, and have realistic expectations of their results.

Most patients put off having breast lift surgery until after they are finished having children. There is a chance that pregnancy after a breast lift will alter the appearance of your breasts.
You may experience additional sagging and alterations in size and shape. In most cases, women who’ve had a previous breast lift can still breastfeed as long as the nipples are not detached during the surgery.

Before your operation, you’ll need to complete your preoperative lab. Afterward, you will meet with Dr. Careaga or Dr. Durand for a pre-surgical appointment to review all pre and postoperative instructions.
You should avoid all blood thinners (such as aspirin, vitamin E, and ginkgo biloba) for two weeks and avoid smoking for at least one month.
