GentleYAG Pro-U™ sets itself apart from other laser hair removal systems because it is safe and effective for nearly all skin types. Previously, laser hair removal was not an option for patients with darker skin tones, as the lasers proved to be damaging to the skin. Procedure
GentleYAG Pro-U™ works by destroying hair at the root, where it is the strongest. This laser uses a small handpiece that delivers brief, intense beams of light that are absorbed by the hair follicle. This heat damages the root of the follicle to prevent further hair growth while leaving the surrounding tissue unharmed. Thus, over the course of a few treatments, hair growth is safely and permanently reduced. Treatment with the GentleYAG Pro-U™ is fast, ranging from as short a time as a few minutes to one hour, and comfortable, as the delivery of heat is broken up with the Dynamic Cooling Device™. This device introduces bursts of liquid cryogen that cool the skin and allow for a gentle hair removal treatment.
Recovery
Patients may experience slight discomfort, which has been compared to the feeling of a rubber band snapping against the skin. Following treatment, you may experience minor redness and swelling, but this will resolve in a few hours. A cool compress or gel pack may be applied for additional comfort.
Results
Multiple treatments are suggested for optimal results. Many patients require four to six treatments spaced six weeks apart, and results will increase over time. Patients can expect to experience up to 80 percent permanent hair removal over the course of all treatment sessions.
